Hi All

A very basic question this time – if I bought some 10 mm brass hexagon, which dimension does the 10 mm in the below diagram refer to (red, green, blue or none of them ?)

Green – the size for M6 screws and nuts. And, incidentally, the easiest of the three to measure.

It is a good question, as Neil says.

I remember wondering what "AF" meant – as England and Canada (and…) speak different versions of the same language – many of the technical designations for materials are different.

It was one of those forehead-slappingly obvious ones when I realized that it meant "Across the Flats" – at least, I think that's what it means!
