      Hello

i have just purchased a 3.5g bantam cock, having steamed her yesterday, and confirming the injector does not work! Can anybody suggest what size/type of injector I should replace it with.

      look forward to your replies

      regards

      mark

            Hi,

Yes iv stripped it down countless times all is clean and in order, iv checked clack and that's working, just to explain alittle more, once water is coming out of drain, and steam applied it pushes even more water out of drain, someone mentioned blocking vent to see if water returns to tender, then releasing vent and achance it will start to pick up.

Other than that im stumped! So anew injector looks the way forward, so just wondered what size would be suitable, no 2?

            Mark

                hi mark,

bob's link to the late john cashmore's notes for Polly are excellent.

all commercial injectors are tested before being passed onto the supplier. 95% of all problems are due to faults with pipework and fittings, and filters or lack of them, or someone having damaged the injector.

i would recommend you contact Polly and see if they have any of gordon chiverton's excellent injectors available. 12 oz per minute would be ideal but has 1/4" x 40 tpi connections. a 'standard' medium sized 24 oz per minute injector will have 5/16" x 32 tpi connections.

                usual disclaimer.

                cheers,

                julian

Just as it should. Have you then tried closing the water valve SLOWLY, stopping when/if the injector picks up and starts feeding?

Apologies for jumping on this thread quite some time after it was posted. The injectors mentioned made by Gordon Chiverton, I read with pride as Gordon is my father. Mark I hope you were able to fix your problem and perhaps even try one of Dad's injectors although I know that by the time you had posted last year, Dad had already had to retire (at 81yrs Young following the diagnosis of bladder cancer). He has not long turned 83 and I think it surprises him when I tell him someone has described his injectors as excellent (Julian – I hope they still give this result). Kind regards

I concur… I have a Chiverton No4 injector on my Simplex and its excellent. Cleaned regularly it gives reliable service. I'd previously gone through two other "commercial" injectors which were useless.
