in MEW there is project for screw modification tool that is threaded 0.750×40.

i know in article it says use what you have but my taps go up m16 then start again at m24 or english equivalent.

couldn't see that size on tracey tools when i looked.

      prob me not looking right.

      what size is it?

Tracy tools catalogue 2010 ( my latest) lists 3/4 in x 40 tpi under Brass, Cycle, and special.

If you count it up then 0.75mm x 40 =30mm

Since there are 25.4mm in an inch then it's deffo not TPI

            So it's a 40mm bar, threaded 0.75mm

            In metric parlance, M40 x 0.75mm

Quite a rare beast, if I've read you correctly

                Aha!, I did wonder.

A fraction also makes discerning metric/imperial a bit easier

                3/4" x 40TPI kinda thing

If you read the article, John says he would make the thread 32 or 26tpi if he was making it again or 1mm pitch for metric. So M18 X 1 or use whatever you have, or cut on the lathe.

Quite an easy size to handle in the lathe.
