I use a RAGE cutoff saw with a multi material 180mm dia EVELOUTION blade. I thought this may be too much of an ask, but with a bit of noise (lot of noise !) I was able to cut 3/4 of the way through a block of Al Alloy 3″ x 2.5″, turned it around and did the last 1/4 from the other side.

My workshop is’t big enough for a traditional metal cutting bandsaw, however for Al alloys, I can use a coarse blade in the upright wood cutting bandsaw and that performs well also.

Ps,  the Rage also cuts steel OK, but don’t try HT  re-bar etc !

        Congratulations.

But it’s probably wise to arrange something a bit more secure than the standard pivoting clamp vice set up when pushing the envelope.

Looks to be essentially the same as the one on my old Black & Decker abrasive chop saw whose grip and holding power can best be described as “less than ideal”. Even when working well within the machines specified capacity I’ve observed things preparing for launch and had to pause to re-secure. One reason why the chop saw is very much my cutter of last resort. The other being the noise.

On mine working with the pivot on the sliding jaw close to the edge of the workpiece, rather than near central so both side of the pad are engaged, is iffy. I’ve never lost a job (yet) but have come close. More luck than judgement in the early days.
