      At Newton Abbott race course

Friday and Saturday 14th, 15th May ( I guess Sunday is racing)

The first run of SWEMES model show including clubs in the south west from Bristol to Plymouth. Being well supported by model engineering suppliers too coming from as far as Birmingham and Nottingham.

EDMES will be there of course.

Great day at the show. Lots of model to rival some of the big shows. Mostly locos of many gauges but only a couple at G1. Will have to do better on that next year. Some boats, a little Meccano, some jewellery for the ladies. More traders than listed on the website. Photos to follow.

Key info – the entrance is a leg of the roundabout opposite Tesco entrance, just next to Premier Inn.

Appropriate for the south west there were plenty of Bulleid locos present:
                Bulleids1
And in 5in gauge they are a good size.
                Bulleids2
The model clubs were displaying a lot of engines of various sizes and types and at various stages of completion to give visitors a view of the build processes.

And here is a stationary one for Jason

However I only noticed one complete G1 loco – will have to look into this for next year though there was a competing show ‘up north’ that weekend which did have G1MRA attention.

On the EDMES stand Ces (club Sec) is seen holding a single piece resin printed body for the G1MRA ‘Greenly’ engine. The club display on the table in front of him had a few things like taps and dies to introduce newcomers to things engineering and also on display were engines made by two teenagers attending our Tuesday evening workshop classes.

There were a few things on this stand that apparently you put in water instead of rails. Note top right a 3D printer demonstrated by Newton Abbott club
                  multiboat
But this one, over 6ft long provided an escape route for the passengers with things that again don’t use rails.

On the Federation stand the builder had taken the fate of the Titanic to heart though he explained it was to stiffen the hull.

                  more to come:

Isn’t that square engine a Dake and not a Drake?

Hopefully Jason or someone from West Yeovil club is reading this and can advise…
