I’ve tried to make some small (2.5mm) rivets from some brass rod. The results haven’t been very good. I’ve tried both schools of thought for annealing the rod – heat to dull red and quench, and heat and allow to cool slowly … with no appreciable difference. I can only assume the grade of Brass I have is probably unsuitable.
Do any of you have any suggestions for something suitable and a source of supply?

CZ131 is a lot softer than the usually uses CZ121. M-machine do it, look for the ones with “riviting brass” next to their listing.

Probably not leaded brass for rivets.
