Hi all, can anybody please tell me what the flywheel dimensions are for the opus proximus engine described in vol 172 please.

Have had a quick look and cannot see any drawings nor dimensions.

In the text (17 June 1994, Vol.172, No 3971, page 764) Mr Bray writes:

I used the cast iron flywheel available from College Engineering Supplies on my version of the engine. Due to minor problems encountered in casting the relatively small cross sections involved and the very small difference in cost, only bronze castings will be available from this source.

…. Those who wish to do so can follow my example with Suum Cuique and cut the flywheel from the solid.

Suum cuique flywheel 70mm (2 3/4″) diameter, six spokes, 3mm (1/8″) thick rim etc.,

Hi Bill, I remember the series of small fabricated engines serialised in m.e in the 1990s’

and all the flywheels were the same size, 2 3/4″ dia as Weary has stated above.

Take care the original drawings had several errors, unfortunately I have no record of the corrections. It is a nice small engine but it is difficult to get running (not just my experience).
