I came across this magnet from my late father's shed, it has Eclipse float magnet on it,the strength is not that good and would be no use for grinding and holds at 45 deg with no on or off switch.

      Thanks Bob 16685255209731088637111454881165.jpg

Half of a magnetic sheet floater.

Used in pairs with the unpainted sides vertical and facing each other to magnetically separate stacks of thin sheet, transformer laminations and similar. Slide the stack between them and the upper few sheets fan out upwards so you can grab the top one.

Number of sheets lifted depends on weight so will lift more from a stack of small thin ones than large thick ones. Yours may be the largest size.

Still made and not cheap. Hundreds £ a pair.

16685310954807567154856459851183.jpgThanks Clive, my father use to do a lot of car boots, that's where it must of come from. These are the strongest magnets I've come across, with out the plastic washer they would leave a bloody pinch, unbelievable strength

I used to make sheet feeders for metal box company and there were a few of these on each unit. The pre printed sheets were stacked on the feeder, paint side down, and the top sheet was picked up with vacuum suckers and lifted forward between the magnets to stop the paintwork being scratched into the press tool to make a box or tray etc.
