Looks like well cared for machine with good working envelope, although the head rise and fall is keyed on the column it may be a bit off when lifted or moved down.
Spindle speeds are not high if you want to use a number of small, 2-5mm, diameter cutters on aluminium but many have managed with lesser speed ranges and completed superb work.

Seller has a reserve that is not yet reached, perhaps he is expecting too much or in any case more than the true value, have any of that model been sold recently on eBay ?

1 sold 14 jan for £735, looked tatty and well used and from description had a motor problem.

To see it search for Mentor mill but check the Sold box on the left side menu.

I am fairly sure the Emco Mentor mills were not copied by the Taiwanese, it was the later slightly larger and far more common 6 speed Emco FB2 mill that was copied in Taiwan and sold under many brand names, and very good copies they were too.

In fact some of the very last Emco badged FB2 mills were also made in Taiwan or China, these had a red and black paint job and were listed as the FB2 E.

So I think the Emco Mentor mill you are looking at is almost certainly made in Austria.

Hi this is my first post here, I actually bought that emco mill, the ways were in good shape with very little signs of wear, I stripped the entire machine apart to inspect and clean everything, replaced all the oil ports, replaced the switch and wiring and it works as good as new now (much better than my old Clarke mill)

Tho I do wonder if anyone knows where I can get a quill return spring from for this machine? Tia. Russell
