Harrison Power Feed

Harrison 600 vertical and horizontal mill is what I have but the power feed does not make sense, I have read that you losen the nut on the table handle and pull it out to use the power feed? But I tighten the nurled nut to get it to stay in power feed am I doing something wrong.
