I recently inherited a warco VMC MILLING MACHINE manufactured 2011. In an effort to move the mill I removed the head from the mill and disconnected the motor. I thought it would be a good idea to take a picture on my phone so it could be easily re connected. Unfortunately I lost my phone. Warco aren’t able to give me a wiring diagram with the wiring connections on for the motor which seams hard to believe and is a bit disopointing.

There are 4 wires and an earth wire which are labelled L11, N11, Z1 AND Z2

The connector block inside the motor has six terminals

Top left Z2/W2 , U2, V2

Bottom left U1, V1, Z1/W1

The motor is a dual capacitor induction motor model YL90L-4 /240 V/ 1400 RPM/ 1.5 HP

If anyone has a warco with the same motor and would not mind taking a look under the motor cover I would be most grateful

Hi Kevin,

I have the same mill with that motor type. I have 2 red wires labeled Z1 and Z2 and 2 black wires labeled U1 and U2. Z2 goes on the top left U2 on top middle U1 bottom left and Z1 bottom middle.

Has anyone experienced vibration on there VMC machine? i am getting a pulsing vibration once per revolution so i am wondering how good the bearings are in the motor. I do have the machine straght on to concrete should i isolate it with rubber? any suggestions

Not made one myself but others have and there are drawings on the net somewhere. The topic was also covered in a fairly recent edition of MEW. Shame Warco don't make one really as I'd like one but my Lathe isn't really big enough.

After pestering Roger Warren of Warco on a number of occasions – unsuccessfully – I decided to make my own 4" raising block for my VMC.

I described this in MEW issue 215 onwards. It can be machined (with care) on a Myford Super 7, although you will need a threaded 4-jaw chuck to manage this. As well as drawings, the article details the machining process used (with photos of the set-ups). It also emphasises the care required when machining such a large lump of cast iron.

The raising block has proved to be very successful in use, really changing the machine for the better, with lack of headroom never now being a problem. The only problem that I have experienced is that when raising the knee to the maximum as a test, the vertical leadscrew became disengaged, and it's not easy to re-engage – so beware.

I have done 3 or 4 Warco, Chester, and those people in Wales who's name escapes me,

Problem is all of them have had different registers. The last one I did was 79.86 which I believe differs from Rogers.

Just checked MEW215 and Roger has 3.307 in old money or 83.99 and that was also a Warco

Rogers bolts were 3.985 between centres [ 101.22 ] mine were 72.72
