Why do you need an extender? Is it because of using a gap bed lathe? That looks quite a pricey accessory, could you not make a fitting to allow the table to sit over the gap? After all you don't need to move the table once set up.

As soon as you get the tool past right angles to the work you will be smashing your knuckles into the chuck's mounting flange

You could just get an ER32 chuck on a straight 20mm shank and hold in your existing collet chuck with the ability to slide it in and out as needed

I have an internal turning job that I've been pondering (which is why it's still on my TUIT list) and this attachment would probably solve it – but maybe I can come up with something a bit more limited in scope (and much cheaper) using the same tool-holding/guiding idea.

I actually watched this video a while ago and thought it was very interesting – the guy(s) at Eccentric do come up with some different (e.g. not run of the mill) products. I use my Diamond tool holder quite a bit but this would not get used nearly as much in my general work I suspect (I already have a ball-turner). Neat idea, well executed though…
