Pittler C3 lathe, dividing and gear cutting attachments

A Pittler C3 lathe dating from 1894, here shown using the unique dividing spindle invented by von Pittler, it simply pushes in to replace the screw cutting spindle The spanning hands on the disk of 100 notches set the count in a similar way to modern versions, a huge number of divisions are available using different worms and wheels and back gear The drum cutter is original Pittler equipment and fits in the saddle casting, it enables a blade to turn to any angle between horizontal and vertical, here I am trying it out cutting a helix
