Quick question: I have an early 80s Super 7 with gearbox and power cross-feed. I am looking to replace my worn bed and wondered what differentiates the various beds. Specifically, what makes a bed a power cross-feed bed?

Only difference is in the saddle, apron and lead screw I believe.

Just ge the bed reground. Others in your region will be able advise as to where to get ths done. If nothing else locate a shop with a surface grinde that will accomodate the bed.

I believe that there is a difference in the bed castings, certainly between the pre and post power crossfeed Super 7's. don't know if the ML7R bed is the same as the Power Crossfeed Super 7.

IIRC the cut-out in the bed is larger to accommodate the bevel gear that rides in the keyway. Myford may have rationalised the beds of the later PCF and non-PCF machines.
