Which silver solder

i intend to silver solder small components copper, brass,steel (EN1A) using a butane torch. Which silver solder and flux do I need.

I would use Easyflo 2 and Easyflo flux.

Apparently Easy Flo (as a trademark) has been stopped by Johnson Matthey. So it is a case of while stocks last, if you have a particular brand loyalty to EF.

 

Otherwise the same alloy remains available. CUP alloys would be a good source . I bet Thessco are still doing it too. The trade name will be slightly different, thats all.

 

There are non cadmium bearing alloys wih the same properties if you want to go that route.

There is no doubt in my mind that the non cadmium versions do not “flow” so nicely. I agree with mgj, CuP Alloys is a good source. I use their 842 range as a multi purpose alloy
