I have just tried to access the Traction Talk Forum, and all I get is the warning This Site Is Not Secure go back to your start page.

Has anyone on this forum who may have visited the TT forum had this warning.

I was on TT earlier today and did not have a problem but lloks like something is wrong now. A similar thing happened earlier this year.

Had it once yesterday, but not today. Seen it before; I just ignore it.

Yes, there's a problem with the website. It insists on HTTPS (encrypted) but has no security certificate. Could be because the website is halfway through an upgrade to use HTTPS or – more likely – because the old certificate has expired and the administrator needs to replace it.

                Try again later.

Yes, I've had the message but just ignored it on the grounds that my anti virus will stop anything suspicious.

A word of warning to the ignorers! If this message is caused by a website involving trust don't risk authorising anything or releasing private data! The same warning is issued when a real website has been successfully spoofed by criminals. One cause is benign, the other malicious.

Not good if your Bank is spoofed. The bad guys are keen to learn your login name, password, sort-code, account number and security answers. Even more delighted if you use them to transfer money. Never make it easy for evildoers!

Not wishing to highjack MichaelR thread but could I ask how important are HTTPS websites to members ? The reason I ask is I maintain a website for my club Link and I,m asking myself is it work spending yet more of the members money on security certificates.

                            Harry,

security certificates and providing the 'https' layer is important where you are handling personal information, login details etc as it indicates that the website is protected by Secure Socket Layer/Transport Layer Security. Data sent between you and the website is encrypted so the information is private, and that the website is identified to be who it claims to be.

As your site has a membership element and requires login to access that, I suggest appropriate certification is relevant and important to your site and its membership.

I tried logging into TT earlier today and got the same warning message. Clicked onto the button to continue and could get in. There were no mention of a log in problem on the discussion posts.

I use Mozilla Firefox as a browser and it has been prompting me to upgrade to the latest version but have been puttinig it off for a couple of weeks. Did the upgrade and found that I could get into TT without any warning message. Not sure if TT have fixed the problem or a coincidence, but it works as normal. (keeping my finger crossed for the future).

                              Paul.

                                  Hi Gray

Thanks for your reply and I guees I maybe should have asked the question diffrently, arriving at a website such as the BCLS website and find it's not secure how many stay and look around or just leave ?

You can get valid security certificates for free. I have a weather web site and it was triggering security messages. So I used "Let's Encrypt" to get the certificates. They renew automatically (for free) every 90 days which avoids the dreaded expiry of a certificate.
