      Hello,

I have been given a Stuart 7A vertical engine to complete. I am trying to establish the throw on the eccentric sheave it is missing off the engine and need to replace.

      Regards,

      Steve

According to my kit drawings the throw is based on 3/32" offset centres, will scan pic of eccentric dwg & post later

          George.

              Hello George,

Thanks very much for the info I appreciate the drawing. I will now attempt to complete and get the engine operational. Thanks once again for your input.

              Regards,

              Steve.

                Hello George,

I have just checked the dimensions on the Stuart 7A I have, there is a drawing but the dimensions are different to the ones on your drawing. This an old 7A I think from the 60,s I have added a picture of the eccentric sheave there appears to be no off set dimension. I am having to make a new eccentric and trying to .establish the throw. Excuse me if I am missing something simple here.

                Regards,

Should be able to calc. throw from valve block and port spacing.

                  Regards Ian.

                    Steve

We both have dimensions missing from our respective dwgs; my kit was bought approx 18 more ago so I take it as the latest input of dim's but looking at your dwg it seems that I have missing dim's too so we have both helped ea. other out. If you are able why not send me a pdf set of dwgs from your kit & I can reciprocate then we'll have all the info we need ? my e mail address is in my profile, forward me yours via pm

                    George.

A couple of links to others who have built Stuart 7A 's, drop them a line, they will more than likely give you the exact sizes…

No need to ask Michael you can see the dimension in his first photo – 9/64th.

George is that the right drawing you posted earlier as it only has a 3" flywheel, the 7A should have a 3.5" flywheel which would also explain the larger 9/64 throw and longer eccentric rod on others models. Looks like your drawing is for a 10A

Mea culpa… My drawing is for a 10A, seems like I went word blind for a while there, after checking my kit box it had 10 A on it although I was convinced it was a 7A… have already posted Steven on the error… considering I'm much closer to 70 than 60 an error or two is bound to arise, so I reckon I'm not doing too bad on the whole.

                              George.

Thank you for all the assistance especially to George I have sent you a reply email. I now see the throw is 9/64th I was not sure what that dimension on the drawing was. I normally would have expected the throw to be shown from the centre line but there you go that's just me.

Rec'd your dwgs for 7A, appreciated, Like you I would expect the offset to be relative to the centre line, drawn similar to the 10A dwg.

                                  George.
