I’m just home in France after 12 days in a French hospital after an emergency admission for CKD, (blue lights after collapsing in the bathroom) – it was a close run thing they tell me.
Dialysis x 2 + intensive drug therapy and I am now wobbling around trying to remember how to walk (the memory bytes in your brain don’t work well if at all after dialysis)
The walking bit is gradually returning, but I have no real physical strength left above wiping my arris, I’m 70 years old today.
The cause? In my case, they reckon long term use of NSAID’s, Ibuprofen etc they say. Agreed – use paracetamol instead.
I can’t compare with NHS treatment as I’ve never been in an NHS hospital.
The French health service is a universal, state-regulated public system, though it uses a mix of public and private care providers presumably like the NHS.
