Ring LED light

Hello

I am looking to put a LED ring light on my milling machine after reading about the idea from a American web site. The only type I can find is the type used for flash photography, the size is ok but that is about all. Any idea where one can be purchased at a reasonable price, as one for microscope use is around £100.

Look up angel eyes on ebay or alibaba.

 

They are rings of leds used in car headlights.

 

Should be getting them for $5 to $20ish.

At work we use the led belts or strips for various things. Maplin code N91NA are 12 volt ones but I expect that they are available in different voltages and from RS etc. Not expensive but they would need protection. Could you make and mount a suitable holder?

I,be done this. Look up angel eyes on e bay type site. Buy the diameter you need, also buy one of the transformers (about £5 ) or so to convert 240v to the stable 12v you need. Double sided tape works well to secure in place ( foam pad type ) but clean the area with solvents first. Hammerstein thinners is good for this.

An old coffee tin lid with suitable hole cut out works as a reflector. Good luck. Ian

Fitted those to my drilling machine and Marlow mill.

You need a larger diameter than you think, as the chucks throw a shadow onto the workpiece.

I've bought larger ones, but need to fit them.

They do work well though.

Don't all feint now, but I am busy replacing the gears in the BH600G's Apron.
