Hi all i have a Bridgeport miller with R8 fitting i have been given a lot of brand new cutters they all have a 32mm shank with a thread on my large Clarkson chuck only goes to 25mm. i have searched the net for an adapter but i am not sure i am looking with the correct phrasing keeps coming up ER32 but this only goes to 25mm i did find something similar but it was for tools with a flat on the side of them. Can someone please tell me what i need to get and from where or what to search for? Many thanks.

Clarkson also do 32mm metric collets but like Neils link more often seen on INT tooling than R8

You could grind a flat on teh side and use a R8 Weldon type holder, more of those about

I am almost sure It says 32mm on the side i will check tomorrow the hole in the end of my large Clarkson chuck is 1" so it would need a bigger collet holder if i can find one.

Are you sure it isn't 1.250" shank?

Could be either, 32mm is a standard size for Clarkson style threaded shank cutters:

My SKF/Dormer Clarkson clone chuck has both 1.25" and 32mm collets; however it's on an INT40 spindle taper. I don't know whether the larger chucks can be obtained for R8 spindles. Personally I wouldn't bother; the Bridgeport doesn't really have the rigidity or horsepower to make proper use of this type of cutter.

Hi thanks for all the replys I got a holder with 2 grub screws that clamp the side of the cutter its not ideal but it does the job i just ground 2 flats on the cutters when needed.
