Looks like a stock boxes for a seller.

'Piano' wire is very hard and can be brittle if bent too far so it furtehr work hardens, good for pivots and pins and some springs.

Iron wire is soft and easily bent to shape.

I imagine the 'hard steel wire' is intermediate.

Much used in model aircraft , for push-rod ends and similar. Almost anything requiring thin high strength – lantern pinions for clocks maybe? Very useful stuff, particularly as you appear to have a number of different gauges.

Swedish made top quality steel. The iron wire is commonly used for holding things together while they are being brazed or silver soldered. The piano wire and the hard steel would be of interest to horologists

I seem to remember that Hitler used piano wire to strangle people he did not like.

I suppose it has other uses as well.

Wild guess – part of a piano repairman's outfit. As the wires all appear to be the same size, I'm thinking of the rods that connect piano keys to their hammers. Three grades of rod giving different degrees of spring might be handy for adjusting how the hammer whacks the strings.

Piano wire is also what they use to run tethered cars & hydroplanes on, very strong wire indeed but must be looked after re even the slightest kink in the tether wire must be replaced. Needs to be strong when a 16 lbs flash steam hydro is running at over 130mph & an electric tether car is running over 220 mph.
