Hi. The housing on my 1/6th HP Hoover motor is turning on it's rubber mounts. I mean can turn the housing by hand quite easily.

In the picture, the center part "stamped "H" turns along with the ring surrounding it. That surrounding ring is hard, The ring encompasing that is the rubber ring. Rubber ring remains stationary.

What's wrong? Thanks.

Would guess that the rubber ring has gone soft with age and is no longer gripping as tightly as it should. Is there any room for tightening the nut and bolt on the clamp arms – there looks to be a small space between their ends..

The movement in these resilient mounts should be within the rubber ring.

Cleaned rings with soap and water. Much better grip now.

if it slips again try a small spot of superglue before pinching the clamp up.
