Would anyone have any reference material on miniature hydraulics and pneumatics?

      • construction of small pistons (1-2cm stroke)
      • tubing attachments
      • air and fluid compression
      • etc

interest is in the field of Automata (ala Disney below)

Softer seals will work for lower pressures.

Take a look at some of the sites that focus on model heavy plant like earth movers, cranes, dump trucks etc.

Brian, try researching "Fuidics and Low Pressure" control systems. I recall many years ago, before the proliferation of programmable electronic logic controllers, using fluidics for operating machine control valves etc. Nand's, Nor's And's, Or's, Flip Flops, etc.

              "Fuidics"!!!!!! should have spelt Fluidics.

Very interesting info on the fluidic logic, thanks!

I remember a former colleague using pneumatic components supplied by RS Components, they stock all sorts of pneumatic and hydraulic equipment supplies, including some pretty compact items.

I have put a link here to the relevant index page on their site, hope it helps:

Having spent many years working on the big stuff, I suspect friction is going to be your biggest challenge.

                        .

Model R/C aircraft use small pneumatics for retractable under carriages. Maybe worth a nosey for some ideas.

Lego has a pneumatic system for activating models, uses a syringe similar to a medical one as the pump.

Interesting videos…going to spend some time looking there

Fluidics search was interesting as well
