      Hello Everyone,

I had a rather disturbing issue manifest itself today.

I had decided to cut a screw thread (M10x1.5). Taking cuts of 0.02mm each pass, the thread gave the appearence of forming well. Then, after maybe 4 or 5 passes, I noticed the thread was looking less well.

Being me, I continued regardless, until it became abundantly clear that no thread was going to get formed. It started to look like some very bad turning.

On inspection, I see that the leadscrew has worked itself outwards, towards the tailstock; enough to have popped off the plastic end cap.

The lathe is a Warco GH1322 and was new 12 months ago.

In fairness, I have not yet contacted Warco.

Does anyone have any ideas ?

      Thanks in advance,

      Daniel

Sounds like the drive pin at the headstock end has either sheared or fallen out. On my Warco GH1330 it is a brass taper pin and it has come adrift in the past.

            Hi Graeme,

That might explain the 2 brass pins that came in the toolbag ; their application hitherto unknown thinking

What kind of job was it to access the pin ?

Sincere and heartfelt thank's for the pointer.

              You were absolutely correct.

All repaired and ready to move on to the next learning experience laugh

              Thank's again,

              Daniel
