i have one of these VFDs and set it up but it all over the place.

The wiring is correct for both input(R L1) and output(UVW).

 

So connected a rotary two way switch to X1 com  and X2 com ( this has 1 0 2) and has 12connections so i connected a com to 1 and 3 on the switch via a bridge. X1 to 2  and X2 to 4 on the switch  which i think is ok.

When i switch the motor on the motor runs at only 10hz and in reverse at full 50hz straight away  the potentiometer has no effect and does not control the speed.

 

Also when the motor is stopped the display shows 49.9 which i presume is the HZ.

 

Can any of my fellow colleagues help a hopeless electronic newby.

Sorry I can’t help, but it does reflect on the well known, poor documentation, of many cheap Chinese VFDs.

I have in the past, purchased major brand VFDs, second hand, at not much more than a cheap Chinese VFD. At least you can then access excellent documentation. Unless you are an experienced VFD user, I would recommend steering clear of the generic Chinese VFDs. There are quite a few pleas for help on the forum, from people that are in your situation.

I have no experience with vfds giving 380v output (all the ones I’ve had were 220 to 220v single to three phase.  You say “it has been set up”. By whom? If by you, I would suggest resetting it to the factory settings and starting again, altering as few settings as possible and one at a time. There is a specific parameter to carry out the reset –  from memory, I think it was P13 but I’m not 100% sure without consulting the manual.

I used to start with max and min frequency settings, then the acceleration and deceleration times. Finally I’d finish off by setting the parameters for a remote on/off and forward/reverse switches and speed control potentiometer, if fitted.  I agree that most generic Chinese documentation is pretty poorly translated, but it’s not an impossible task.

The starting point should be to run just off the built in switches without anything additional. However check manual first too as one of mine needed an on/off switch connected to two terminals before doing anything (probably a safety measure).

So reset, remove switch and start from scratch.

Thanks fior this its driving me NUTzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz .

played around again and now it runs in forward and can be  controlled by the potentiometer pot  but wont reverse.

Checked continuity form X2 to the switch and that working ok i do have a manual i can upload if anyone can make sense of it to help me out??

It would be useful if the OP would draw us a pencil sketch of how the device is wired up and give us a list of the current parameter settings (or say decisively which ones are altered from factory default). Otherwise, we are guessing.

It needs a lot more that typing three small words, “set it up”, to start the solution to this problem.

I think you have to enable reverse – again a safety control on one of mine. Try parameter F0.12
