Is it just me or is the text tool on this forum broken from the iPad? Often when I insert a new line the cursor goes to the start of the text box so the typing goes back at the beginning of the message, selecting text (for example to copy and paste a link that hasn't been inserted as hypertext) now seems impossible.

Mind you, with each new iOS release I think Apple make life worse for their customers and the iPad harder to use and Windows got better than Mac several years ago for usability. Which brings me to another question, this iPad will need replacing before long, are Android tablets any better?

This also happens to me on Windows with the 'Edge' browser- so it's not discriminatory.

I find it hugely annoying.

I find Android great as a dumb terminal but not much cop as a technical tool

There are some good windows tablets out there now, I got a cheap one of these 8 inchers on that bay place and people around me have been "ooh I fancy getting one of those". It also runs my designspark CAD and a compiler I use, plus it makes a great e-reader as well. Battery life is 6-8 hours

Don't go too high end if you do go for a windows tablet(or check the reviews carefully), there have been heat issues with some of the fabby expensive ones that look great on paper, don't go too cheap either, there are reliability issues at the consumer bottom end of the market

At the end of the day it's a full blown computer crammed into a 8-10mm thick e-reader book

Happens to me on windows 10, annoying but I just use the page up/down/left/right cursor moving arrows to get over it.

I tend to block all updates on windows btw, and have never gone beyond windows 8.1

I get what you describe as well but it only happens on this website so I think it's just the way this website works, nothing to do with iPad. Compared to all the other forums I use lets just say the software used on this site is "unique"!

I've had a play with an android tablet and found it very unintuitive compared to the iPad but you may like it. A friend of mine was happy to use Apple hand downs – iPhone and iPad and got on well with them but as they needed replacing he refused to spend the money and went for cheap android stuff and now struggles to do some really basic stuff. He's in denial though and blames everyone else for his problems.

Exactly the same results here and I am a Mac user with the latest OS, so just have to be careful when composing and make sure that each new paragraph starts in the appropriate place.

It also happens on the Modelflying .co.uk forum too……which is also part of the MTM group.
