      Hello all.

I'm making a precision thickness sander (for Balsa and modelling timbers). I plan to rotate a sanding drum at 1500rpm.

I've been looking for a (hopefully) secondhand electric motor, say 100-150W, single phase 1500rpm.

Can't find one anywhere, unless you guys tell me differently!!

              This any good.

Forgot to put a rule at the side but it's on an 11mm shaft so it's a 71 frame motor which means it 71 mm from base to centre. It doesn't have any feet but has the tapped holes.

It's brand new, supplied and fitted in error [ should have been identical but 3,000 revs ] tatty as it been kicking about on a pallet for ages.

If you want any the same but 3,000 revs I have shed loads.

0.18Kw, 1/4 HP and 1350 revs single phase, ignore the 400v on the plate, that's the value of the cap.

              PM me if interested.

Edit put 1/2HP down by mistake – damn keyboard………..

                Hi

Screwfix do cheap tile cutters with 400 – 500W induction motors, about £30 mark, though the speed may be faster than you have stated. The advantage with these is that you get the 'no volt mains switch' thrown in as well. If all else fails may be worth looking at one of these or similar.

                Cheers

                Martin

Back to the original subject and Martin W's post, when it comes to buying electric motors why is it often cheaper to buy a made-in-China machine and remove the motor rather than buy a motor on its own? When I needed to acquire a motor in the 250-300 watts range it was cheaper by far to buy a cheap drilling machine and, as Martin mentioned, I got a no-volt switch thrown in as well. What's more, the remains of the drilling machine is ace for aligning taps down pre-drilled holes. Crazy world, isn't it?
