Hi quite new to this forum. Was looking for some advice on what to do with my bandsaw base where the blade comes down on. Pictures below. I've got a bridgeport type milling machine that I've thought about using to machine flat but don't know how to secure a new piece of metal in. Or should I try and weld it back up then machine. Just so it looks better on the eye. Wondering what ideas you boys have. It's cast iron. Thanks in advance.

I would set an auto off switch in the system somewhere to take care of that

Fit in a piece of MDF that can be changed easily and as often as necessary. This will also save a little wear on the band saw blade.
