Does anyone know where I can buy individual 1/4" or 6mm letter and number punches suitable for use on mild steel?

      Many thanks

      Jim

The name that springs to mind for letter and number punches is Pryors, IF they are still trading.

Have you looked at Cromwell Tools catalogue? Probably relatively expensive, but they are supplying industry for heavy duty use.

          Ditto for Buck and Hickman.

Does it have to be stamped? If not, you can buy a hand held engraving tool fairly cheaply, (Aldi or Lidl offer them from time to time) or again try the firms mentioned above, as well as some of our M.E.suppliers.

              Hi Howard and John

Many thanks. Sadly it has to be stamped. Will contact the firms mentioned.

Jim, Pryor are top quality and if you have a lot of use I would go for these but if it's more occasional use look at the link below to Arc, now I don't have any experience of this product but Arc products are usually very good and I have seen these in the flesh and they do look excellent quality.
