I need to add a section to my existing conduit system. There appears to be plenty of suppliers for 20 mm conduit pipe but none that I could find that still stock the old 3/4″ pipe.

Bizzarely, there are no end of suppliers offering 3/4″ pipe with nipples or lengths with the conduit thread on each end! So it would seem that there is a plentiful supply of 3/4″ steel conduit tube!! Its just that I can’t find a supplier, can anyone suggest a source other than the scrapyard?

      Andrew.

Hi Andrew, JasonB beat me to it, but there are plenty of adapters available. Conduit adapters

          Regards Nick.

I shall probably have to use 20mm pipe. I still cannot understand why there are hundreds of suppliers who can provide 3/4″ pipe with threaded ends and no retailer that can supply the 3/4″ pipe. The 3/4″ pipe is obviously available to the hundreds of suppliers who supply the pipe tapped at both ends!!!!

            Andrew.

P.S. I always prefer imperial material rather than Metric if I have the choice.

Couldn’t you cut the threaded ends off?

Well call it 25/32″ pipe. Seriously the stuff with threads on might actually be 20mm but with 3/4 thread cut on

The ones you are seeing are either supplying other markets eg the US or put 3/4 and 20mm in the same description when only selling 20mm.

Or google is throwing up thicker wall 3/4″ BSP threaded pipe and not conduit.

Would it be possible to provide links to one or two of those?

You could look up when BS 31 was withdrawn (31 August 2015). That may give you some indication of why finding a supplier is difficult.

M-machine have both ERW and Solid Drawn tube in 3/4″ OD and various wall thicknesses.

Thanks everyone for your suggestions. I decided to take my own advice and visited my local scrapyard. I came away with around 5 metres of genuine 3/4″ conduit tube for a couple of pounds. So all sorted and I have enough material to last me out.

                        Andrew.
