Model Boilers and Boilermaking by KN Harris is generally a good book on the subject for model engineers.

A club member at EDMES brought along a boiler part built by his late father and I recognised it as being in the book and found just one illustration and minimal details. Page 61 fig 3-30.

The book calls it a KINDON both in the text and caption however google finds only regular firetube launch style boilers (“Harris economic” in the book).

So what is the correct name for this watertube boiler? Has anyone have/made one? Was it perhaps in ME 50 years ago?

I would be tempted to refer to it as a twin drum water tube.  Mr Harris knew far more than I ever will about boilers so just call it a Kindon ? As to building one to use see my post and replies on steel boiler design – what was fine 50 years ago is no longer acceptable. A copper or steel boiler made commercially now – talk in £1000s, several, even for a small one.  Noel.

Thanks for your thoughts. It was the steel boiler thread that reminded me that I had promised the owner that I would find this design in the book, but then came up with the above. I am hoping for a recognised name/description that I can google. It seems related to power station or large ship practice too.
The boiler pipework is finished, and while I doubt anyone would make a new one these days the owner might like to case it up as intended. BTW the main drum is only 4in long so in its day perhaps for a straight-runner or round-the-pole boat before R/C.

This is the boiler – not quite in proper orientation.
