more hassle to send back post office not near so I’d rather find out what its from – I thought maybe shaper but then again looks abit weak for that set up. It’s something off some low end machine.

there is a partial groove inside and the hex bolt probably served to lock and hold it onto a pin albeit of large diameter.

and yes I wondered myself if somebody had machined that slot at some point or that was just some peculiar feature of the design.

it’s still better made than most modern junk.

okay thanks for all the input everybody, on careful inspection it’s a total piece of junk so I’m going to take bernard towers & tonypratt1 advise and send it back I have a too big collection of items that people have flogged on me that I can never rectify.
