The back gear supports are integral with the headstock. Do you mean change gears and the bracket for them (banjo)?

That was the war.

The M type in particular became a war priority tool because it was so good (Is so good) and Myford were ordered to cease production of their own small lathes and produce the M series in quantity. It went onto submarines and destroyers and Army repair units and when the war effort kit got scrapped a lot of Drummonds got liberated.

There was a large stockpile of war effort stuff at Myfords until I believe, the early 1950s, particularly longbeds

If you're doing an M series article Neil try to put the headstock adjustment into the article please, so that it is on record for all time, I doubt that this site will still be around in 100 years, but there will still be a few M series lathes kicking about
