To clad my boiler using one sheet of 26swg brass sheet it would need to have dimensions of 13″x13″ and I can’t find a supplier who sells any of that size. – Reeves 2000 sell a 12″ square but that is shorter than the circumference so I can’t use it in two sections.
So what do you guys with bigger boilers than my 3 1/2″ loco use and where is it obtained?
Presently I am finding that soldering up side tanks so that they are water-tight is not as easy as it might appear!

Hi Tony, I think that the 12″ X 12″ profile seems to be a postal standard size, you can often obtain larger sizes at the various exhibitions, especialy if you ring any of the suppliers a week or so in advance and ask for them to reserve it for you.

          Regards Nick.

If the roll is 12 ” wide it won’t be much good as the OP wants 13″ wide

College Engineering will cut whatever size you need, as will several other of teh ME suppliers, the 12×12 is just a standard stock size that is easily posted.

You could also try MJ Engineering, thats where I got mine for my Fowler, Alan may also be able to roll it for you.

Just done a quick search and found this supplier of various sheet material and they have sizes going to 1000mm x 2000mm in various thicknesses of brass sheet. That said they are quoting in metric so obtaining equivalent to 26SWG may be difficult. No idea of cost and usual disclaimers apply.

                    Cheers
