hi

my on off switch on my warco wm16 miller packed in, so i have ordered a new one, but when i took the panel of to take the switch of there is a lose blue wire inside. i have included some pict so you can see what wire it is. looking at he wire it looks like it might have come lose from the forward & rev switch but dont no i havent a clue with electrics. if anyone as a pict of inside there miller or knows about this stuff i would be very grateful of any help.

It does look if it has come from the rotary switch but not having any specific information someone else will help their. Has the end of the wire been soldered or just twisted as the end of wires should not be soldered as that can make screw clamped joints come loose. As the solder expands and contracts with temperature changes the solder becomes loose and come out. If it has been soldered have a look at the other wires for being tight and secure. The end of wires should have a feral crimped on to protect from screw or clamp cutting the wire not solder.

The manual will have a wiring diagram which may be of help. I had a problem with my Warco lathe and found a stray wire when I took a look. It was time consuming but I eventually sorted mine out.
Alternatively send a few pics to Warco as they may be able to help. They are usually very helpful.

On the rotary switch check if any of the screws are loose….suggesting where the wire may have come from..but double check with the wiring diagram then

also check and tighten all the other screws up whilst you are doing it

It may help to know where the lead comes from/goes to. Can you trace the other end of the lead to a component? There is no circuit diagram in my WM16 manual but I have a manual for a Grizzly G0704 which is pretty much the same machine. That does have a circuit diagram but cable colours are not given.

Precision Matthews in the USA have the same mill , PM25V on their site with a much better manual than the Warco one. They also have a power feed but unfortunately 110 volts.

first of all i like to say thankyou for the help on this forum. rik i think your miller might be the newer one than i have, looking at your wiring. mine is about 10 yrs old. there is no wiring diagram in the book that i can look at, i will have a look for one on the grizzly & on matthews sites. there is 2 blue wires, one at the top right & one on the left to the bottom of the board, will try to put pict on then you can see.

In the last foto, you highlighted a Blue wire that, to me, looks like it goes to the A- connection on the speed control board. That being the case the wire needs to be connected to the FWD/REV switch…You will need to trace the motor wires back to the switch and try and determine which connection it is on the switch….

Thats the best I can tell you for now…..A better look at the switch would help….but looking at the G0704 wiring it looks like it could be terminal 5 on the switch

The PM25 machine referred to above is a brushless motored version….a different beast altogether…

Have a look at the manual for the G0704….

all sorted. followed the wiring dia for the go704 mill thanks john. i have put pict on if any one should need it. anyway thanks for all the help to all of you that took the time to help
