I used to have i photo on my mac and I could transfer photo's to my album. We had a series of 3 power cuts in 15 minutes which caused us problems getting our computers running. We had to turn off the router and restart it after 20 minutes and we were back running, but i photo had been upgraded to the latest version which I am still trying to get my hesd round. My question is how many mb can my photo's be to transfer to my album they are 46mb and 43mb at the moment.

Forum software usually resizes anyway, give one a try and see if it can cope with the size.

Could well be an iPhoto thing. Apparently it stores not only the photo but also data about format, edits, copies and other Appley things. So it may be that the actual uploaded image will be smaller than it says . Hitting the 'Empty Trash' button in iPhoto will remove some of the extraneous stored items.

The forum software re-sizes images to 495px wide to fit in the allocated column width although the larger uploaded image remains in the database and can be seen by clicking on the image displayed in the post.

The forum resizes but it took a while for big photos to chug across the internet when I had a slow internet connection. (8Mb/s down/1.0Mb/s up) To avoid timeout errors I either set the camera to 1024×640 or resized big photos myself with gimp or Imagemajick before transmission. (Other editors available!)

No problem with timeouts now my broadband is 12Mb/s up, so I just send whatever is in the camera and let the forum sort it for me.

Not clear how the forum decides resize values. Many of mine have been crunched down to 150×113 pixels, others are 500×667, and there are a few oddities like '1280×960 scaled to 640×480'.

If a detailed photo needs to be fully zoomable, best to store the jpg on another website and link to it with the Image button. There is no size limit unless the other website has one.
