        Hi All,

I need to adapt an aluminium tube by reducing it's external diameter from approx 27mm to 25mm. The length of the cut is about 50mm.

I have contacted some local engineering firms who are essentially not interested.

I'm therefore looking for a lathe owner, local to Southampton, who can help me.

I'm a private individual and this is a one off, non commercial job.

Any pointers would be most welcome.

        Thanks

Probably best to wait until after the current lockdown situation is relaxed as taking your tube to anyone local is unlikely to be essential travel.

The "men in sheds" and "makerspace" organisations are often full of helpful people and equipment, I know there is this one in Southampton; likely current CV-19 closed….. but worth a look anyway.

Agreed Jason that an in-person visit would not be advisable at the moment, but if Neville's 27 mm dia tube is not too long before making the 50 mm length cut, maybe it could be sent by post or courier? If of course someone in Southampton or not far from it can do the job. Sending it by post or courier may not be too expensive if distance is short.

I would be glad to do the job for Neville but am several thousand km away in Canada, so not much help to him on this.

Hopefully the "mens sheds ( ladies accepted )" will be open soon. There is one next to Bitterne Bowls club SO197NP. There are others, you can search here>> Sheds

                IHTH regards
