Yes, it may be better to wait until the Doncaster Show as its quite soon.

I don't know about Manchester, but there are usually special show offers by Chester and Warco, either on the price or some extras thrown in. Plus you may spot some other mill which you would rather have had instead, you never know.

As well as Chester and Warco, I think SPG Tools will be there as well. All offer similar machines at varying prices. You can't beat wandering round the show with a wedge of cash to spend while looking and fiddling with all the machines on offer as you take your pick.

            .

I 'personally' have had more joy when haggling for discount on any product face to face than over a telephone. So maybe worth a try.

But perhaps it's just when they see me they interpret me as the village idiot and feel sorrow for me.? surprise

Or, following on from Lathejack's comments, you could call Chester, as them what their show offers will be and ask if they will let you have them if you purchase now.

After all, to them, selling to you now is a "bird in the hand". If they insist that you wait till the show, you might find something else as LJ says.

Hi Michael, I doubt that you will get the price very much lower than it is at the moment. When I bought a small lathe last year at the Midlands show, the price was as advertised and no lower, but I did get free delivery. The best thing about waiting for the show is to be able to see one and ask about it to see if it really is the one that is most suited for your needs. Not much worse than buying a machine and it not being quite up to your expectations and of course you may find something from one of the other suppliers that have an edge that you hadn't thought of.

                    Regards Nick.

FWIW, do your homework before the show, on what spec you want / accessories etc, and pre show prices, then check the prices at the show. THEN start haggling, to see if you can get free delivery or any extras thrown in.

I was able to negotiate a differential to have a better Milling Vice than the one that was part of the usual machine package.

A pair of departing shoulders is a very powerful argument!

                      Howard
