      Well, here you have it.
      The Ajax, all done.

Except for the files, they need to be given a good once over and the like.

There is one thing about this locomotive I really didn't like. Curly was very vague in the description of this locomotive- the same situation exists with the Pixie. It's rather frustrating to me because I don't want to alter his designs or have to fill in the blanks to the point it might be Fuzzy da Silva (my hair grows in every direction but straight) instead of Curly Lawrence work.

Now, onto the list. Crossed off means that it's complete (the Steam Mouse needs a few minor touches) and the bold items are the locomotives I have the article series for.

      0 Gauge
-Bayer Garrett (still need Sir Morris de Cowley drawings)
      -Cracker
      -Diesel Outline
      -Minnehaha
      -Miss Therm
      -Mollyette
      -Myrtle
      -Steam Mouse

      1 Gauge
      -Amy
      -Chingford Express
      -Daisy Drummond
      -Dyakette
      -Ford Pacific
      -Little Jack Horner
      -St. Hildas
      -WD Stanier

      2.5" Gauge
-Economary (also in 0 gauge as Economette, 1 gauge as Miss Economy)
      -Bass (Also in 0/1 gauge)
      -Nippy
      -Sterling Single
      -Victoria
      -Ajax
      -Annie Bodie
      -Belle Stroudley
      -Canadian Switcher
      -FIRS 245 (Six Year Old's 4F)
      -Judy
      -Kingette
      -Lady Kitty
      -Mabel Hall
      -Mary Ann
      -Pansyette
      -Pixie
      -Rose
-Simple Sally (there are FOUR versions of this one, thankfully it won't be hard)
      -Talula
-Lucy Anna (also in 0 gauge)
      -Speedyette (also in 1 gauge)

      3.5" Gauge
-Dairy Maid (also in 2.5” gauge)
      -Duchess of Swindon
      -Ivy Hall
      -Mona (also in 1 gauge)
      -Sister Dora
      -Zoe (also in 1 gauge)

      5" Gauge
-Eva May (tender and tank. also 2.5" gauge)
      -Minx
      -Netta (0-5” gauge)

As far as the next write up on the drafting nightmare, the next bit will be finishing up the Pixie.
I am afraid that I am going to have to do the same thing I did with the Ajax with the Pixie, alas I hope that my work is met with the approval of the folks that enjoy it/read my poorly written threads.

Nothing 'poorly written' about your threads Dean.

You said 'There is one thing about this locomotive I really didn't like. Curly was very vague in the description of this locomotive- the same situation exists with the Pixie.' Yes. I have a patchy collection of old magazines and have noticed that LBSC's work is far from consistent when it comes to details. Although he famously claimed to provide all the 'words and music', quite often it's hard to find. My guess is that his less detailed articles were either intended to inspire experienced builders, or the magazine editor wanted shorter easy-to-read articles, or – less charitably – a simple top-level only design was a quick way for LBSC to earn his living.

One of the benefits of what you're doing is that it will tend to flush out inconsistencies and gaps in LBSC's designs. Publishing a record of them would be valuable in itself, specially for inexperienced builders.

          Keep up the good work!

          Dave

              Well cute!

A certain someone said the same thing.
It is kinda cute, not to mention I have a soft spot for oscillators.

Ahh bloody hell, I had to take a bit of a pause on my work on LBSC's designs.

Annnnnnnnnnd I have this, which can be regauged for 7.5, 7.25, 5, 4.75.
Ode to being employed in live steam.

                  Alright little update:

I have to get some work done for a client. I have been slacking on the work I do for him a bit (but for a good reason, he was tied up) but now I must get back on the grind stone.

This sort of crazy looking locomotive I posted last was made by an American company called Little Engines, now it is owned by my friend and client, Jesse Banning of Banning Locomotive Works. He produces it, a trio of vintage American style locomotives and a small sundry of others.

I have been drafting for only around 9 months, I took to it like a fish to water one could say. However, I have found myself basically attached so much to my computer that I've entered the first trimester of pregnancy with a food baby caused by riding an office chair so much. In those nine months I have drawn as many locomotives (or close to it) and a sundry of parts for clients and the like.

In that time I have driven a steam locomotive exactly once and done no machining.
I need to strike a balance between the three or I will go completely and totally insane, obese and develop carpal tunnel. Plus, I have this giant redhead that gave me life pestering me for grand children that are not canines.

The Curly project will still go on, I promise that. But I need to slow down on drafting. To keep things interesting, I will be going back and doing some QA work on the designs I have finished. They shall get prettier in time here, and I might even though some colour on them.

I'm also going to start tinkering around with more modern production processes, such as water jet and the like- so there could be some real and not digital models coming soon.

Regards, and you will see something soon,
                  -Dean

Alright, so while I have had my hands full with my more… professional responsibilities with in the hobby, I decided to take another stab at the Pixie.

I took the wheels from Ancient Lights- which I thought looks really cool- and put them on the Pixie.

I really like the slightly toy looking engines, for what ever reason. So it seemed fitting that I would put the wheels on the Pixie which is cut from the same cloth in a manner of speaking.

The challenge with a lot of these LBSC locomotives I need to devise sort of a "master set" of LBSC's castings he designed so that I could "standardise" a lot of the designs if you will.

Otherwise this is going smoothly, I cant imagine how much of a headache that splasher would be to make.

I'm almost done with sprucing this lady up, the tender needs a bit of it, some steps and what not still need to be added. That sort of little oddments.

The burner on this one is going to be a pain in the neck.
Not because its complex, but because it's kind of… odd. The little tank at the rear. It will fill through a spout in the cab. I am debating just nixing that idea all together and using the Rose burner, since the boiler is LITERALLY the same save for being .125" longer at the firebox, it's really something I am entertaining. Same water tube practically, same everything. Thoughts please? I really value this kind of input.

I did omit fittings and the blast pipe per the usual, mostly because I have no idea how to draw compound curves and because of my earlier statement regarding commercial fittings.

I've decided for the next locomotive I'll do the 6 years olds 4F, or FIRS 245. It's also cut from the same cloth, followed by the Nippy, which is almost exactly identical to this locomotive just with a slip eccentric valve gear.
