          Sam,

Provided it is an FB2 and not the earlier Mentor Mill, then spares for this machine should be available through Emco Stockists. Emco have a policy of keeping spares for their machines for 30 years. As I purchased one of the last FB2's in 1996, there should be about 8 years left.

If you do not know the spare part numbers, there are PDF's available on the manual, or Sears in the USA have, or did have an on-line parts catalogue for Emco machines.

          Gray,

Hi Gray, thanks for the reply. Im located in Australia so assumed there woud be no Emco representation over this side to source parts from, im sure it woud be faster also to hand make the seals. will have a scour on ebay and google see what I can find.

            Cheers

Gasket material, unless required as shims, is not that difficult to sort out. Just don’t use compressible gaskets (eg cork) in inappropriate situations – and paper or card choice might depend on the finish of the surfaces and rigidity, when narrow sections are involved. Many gaskets were made, in situ, in days gone by. I have made umpteen gaskets for my vintage tractors/engines, as they were simply not available before the internet became a useful tool for such purchases.

Appropriately sized ball-pein hammers or ‘photocopy and puched holes’ are the usual methods I use, dependent on requirement.

when I dismantled an FB-2 I couldn't get any gaskets, so I used a liquid gasket, "Tru Loc Supergasket 742" "Gasket Eliminator", which is a thickish anaerobic stuff, bright orange in colour. Made a perfect seal.

I think I got it from ArcEuroTrade, at the time.
