Can anyone provide information on a source of material for this diesel, as I wish to make a model of it.

I would like any sketches drawings websites that will produce the above.

I would be glad to reimburse any costs

      thanks

          Hi Bob ,
          http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/64156-class-14-0-6-0-dh-frame-drawing/

Above leads to reasonable modellers drawing .

Almost all the WR/BR diesel drawings survive if you want something better and these reside at NRM .

That takes me back a while!

I remember working on a brand new one all those decades ago, I think there are quite a few preserved as well.

                Thanks V8eng

Yes there are a good few preserved, a friend at Derby has confirmed that there is one close by to him and he will make a visit to take some pics.

thanks for the response, sounds like you are ex Br fitting staff.

                regards

                  Hi Bob ,

Just curious – what do you have in mind about scale of model and type of drive mechanism ?

                  Regards ,

                  Michael Williams .

                    Hi Michael

I have just completed a 5In scale loco of a B1, and in the process of building an Hunslet at 71/4 so this is the next project.

When at the Harrowgate model show a few years ago I did admire a class 14 built by someone unfortunately I did not take any details at the time but thought it was a project one day I would like to complete. This was at 71/4 scale and it was full of features that you can only put on that scale ,so I have decided to try and get as much info on the beast and build it at 71/4. I have the workshop and I hope the skill to do it justice.

The driving will have to be dc electric with 2 batteries and maybe 3 motors, that aspect I have not discussed with any manufactures as yet.

I have found some info on the NRM website and have requested the information from them see what that throws up.

thanks for the interest if you have any other info that may be of help I would appreciate it.

                    Regards

                    Bob R

                      Hi Bob.

Yes I was an Apprentice (dual mech & elec) with BR in the 60s, working on the Western Region (class 52) hydraulics, which used to arrive pristine from Swindon, plus the Hymeks (class 35), only ever remember working on one class 14 though.

Quite a lot of my work was on 08 Shunters and of course the DMUs.

Before I left BR the class 37 Diesel Electrics were taking over from Hydraulic Transmission types.

Whoops not class 37 probably class 47, not too sure (it was a long time ago)!
