WM 250 VF

Hi again.

I have ordered the beast from Mr Warco and I was hoping that if any kindly owner of a WM250 vf could oblige me with a measurement from their machine.

I am building a new bench and want to get the height near enough so I would like the height from the top of the bench to the hand wheel for the carriage please. I am sure I asked before in the forum but I can't find the posting.

Just been & measured my machine; it is on its OEM stand & to the centre of the cross slide hand wheel measures 985mm but then I'm a short arse at 5' 7" so if your taller ( most people are ) you'd be better off setting your machines hand wheel to suit your height, approx waist / navel height I would surmise, that could be anywhere between 985 – 1.2m, & see which is most comfortable for you.

Martin – Top of the bench to centre of hand wheel is 110mm. I am 6ft tall and hand wheel centre is 1015mm above workshop floor. I built the bench like this so I do not have to stoop.

Might be worth mentioning that my bench is on heavy duty castors and fixed to the wall by steel brackets which can quickly be unscrewed. This allows bench/lathe to be pulled away from the wall – carefully – for maintenance purposes (this has already paid of on several occasions.)

Make the bench a bit taller and not shorter – you can stand on a duckboard if you find you have to for some jobs. As mentioned stooping is not comfortable long term.
