What thread? Stuart V-10

What thread should you choose for the steam in and out connection to Stuart V-10, to fit common accesories.
And what thread for the drain taps?

Growing up with millimeter so I need advice.

You have my sympathies

40tpi is common for steam fittings. I used 0Ba and made my own unions as all I had were a few BA taps when I started out.

Dear Bertil,

I have made several Stuart No 10 and other engines and I have just looked at the drawings used.

Steam fittings in and out should for 10 H&V should be be ¼” x 32 tpi

Drain cocks (smallest of the 3 sizes available) 5/32” x 40 tpi (from the Stuart models catalogue).

In case you has not imperial treads for drain cocks, use M4 treads in the cylinder and make own drain cock, it is not difficult. I did with my Stuart D10 with ownmade drain cocks since the draincocks is not cheap to order from UK due toll tax.

I think if you thread as specified on the Stuart drawing, I think you are then committed to the Stuart fittings, be worth double checking, measure twice, cut once…
