Im restoring a super 7 but does anyone know what type of thread the screws are that hold the cross slide on to the saddle ? Mine are well damaged

All myford say is "cheese head screw "

And they are not listed in there spares list.

Interesting parts list. I'm going to guess 2BA as they seem to like it for smaller screws and BSF for the larger.

I removed one from my lathe (Super 7B) and it is 2 BA with a slotted cheese head .375 dia and .150 thick. They are .925 long overall and threaded for about 2/3 of the length under the head.

Mark,

2BA cheese heads are readily available from such as ba-bolts.co.uk and gwr-fasteners.co.uk , but these are all "standard" types. The heads are smaller in dia. than the Myford ones, and they will be threaded to head not part way.

You could use the standard head with a suitable washer under it to fit the cross-slide and keep the bolt central.  As long as it doesn't make the bolt head protrude enough to interfere with the topslide action.
