Strange Myford ML7

just bought a ML7 the bed headstock and a few other bits look almost new but it has a 1948 serial no if it was a factory recon would they put the old number on it

Has the serial number got an R stamped after it?. I believe Myford used to do this if they reground the bed.

ML8 is a wood lathe with a round bed.
