      Research of old Magazine

I am researching the history of our radio club The Leicester Radio Society, I have been informed that an article of when the club was first formed appeared with a picture in a 1912 Model Engineer Magazine?, Could any one assist as I am trying to find an exact date that our club was formed, if any one has the magazine could you provide me with a scanned copy of the article, if you can help that would be terrific.

      Many Thanks

      Kelvin

            Hello Kelvin. Good evening.

Using the free application ME_Indexes ***LINK*** and the double criteria “Leicester” and “Society” in the title field, I found there are two articles dated year 1912. They belong the category of “The editor's page”.
They are both from volume 27 and the issues are the 596 and 601.

I found three more articles that probably don't fit your purpose. Anyway I'll let the reference so you can discard them.

The first has the title: Revival of the Leicester Society of Model Engineers
The second has the title: New Rooms for the new Leicester Society of Model Engineers

Vol. 78 – issue 1929 – year 1938 – author: Percival Marshall and the title is: The Leicester Society's Exhibition
Vol. 78 – issue 1930 – year 1938 – author: E. Dallaston and the title is: The Leicester Society of Model Engineers Exhibition
Vol. 145 – issue 3620 – year 1979 – author: Laurie Lawrence and the title is: Leicester Society of Model Engineers Celebrate 70 Years with a Rally

            Best regards

Thought Dias would come up with the answer I have as librarian of the BSMEE access to all issues from vol1 onwards they are not kept in the clubs library due to space resrictions so it would be in the new year that I could obtain them to copy in the meatime maybe another forum member can help.

              Bob.

If anyone hasn't tried Dias' index application yet, it really is worth trying. the only shame is it doesn't include PDFs of all the old issues

I have about 20 years of ME plus and most MEWs plus a few old ones, and it make a huge difference when I want to find something.

                  Hello Neil.

Thank you very much for expressing your opinion so favourably to my application.

I take the oportunity to let you and all know the version of free EiM_Index ***LINK*** suffered some minor improvments and has new data.

Neil: the only shame is it doesn't include PDFs of all the old issues
DC: Yes you are right. It's technicaly possible but…

                  Best regards
