As many readers are aware our preferred charity is REMAP.
This thread is to post information and requests for volunteers for any of the REMAP panels and general chat about REMAP.

REMAP make things possible for people with disabilities

Remap is a very special charity, working through a nationwide network of dedicated volunteers. They use their ingenuity and skills to help people with disabilities to achieve much-desired independence in some aspect of their lives, or to enjoy leisure opportunities previously closed to them..

Remap’s unique pieces of special equipment are tailor-made and given free to the people who need them.

Remap has 80 panels across England, Wales and northern Ireland, and helps 4000 people with disabilities every year.

          David

I read that REMAP has been selected as your preferred charity and ME and MEW have donated monies to the national charity. The model engineering fraternity has been a useful recruiting ground for volunteers for REMAP and my local group in Doncaster would like to contact any local model clubs to maybe give them a talk and try and recruit more engineers.

We have no problem with a lack of projects for clients and funding as always is a problem but we could not exist without engineers and the rising average age of my local volunteers does concern me about the future of the organisation with the decreasing opportunity for younger people to get engineering training/apprenticeships. I am the youngest volunteer at 65 and one has just retired from our group at 85, he was also our PR man!

Could you please either let me have a listing of clubs associated with your organisation or pass my details onto those clubs say within 20 miles of Doncaster?

I know that you are a supporter of REMAP.

Dorchester panel have effectively lost (through long-term illness) both the members who live in the east of their region, and volunteers with the right abilities are hard to find nowadays. We in the Bournemouth panel are already dealing with one of Dorchester’s referrals on (I hope) a temporary basis, but we are fairly hard-pressed ourselves and can’t afford to make a habit of it. If anyone feels like an excuse to spend a few hours in their workshop, I am sure that Dorchester would be glad to hear from you as would Bournemouth.

The typical volunteer is only needed for a few hours per month.
