looks like it's going to be a garden ornament then as I have no idea what it is used for

            Hello,

I saw presses like the one in the previous post, used to close / open floodgates of small dams for irrigation of crop fields.

            regards

It would be used for broaching and die cutting when more / slower force is needed than a flypress but you might be able to make a cider press out of it. It would be a shame to leave it outside rusting.
Do the square pegs all engage together for strength or sequentially for fine control? A video of it working would be nice.

they engage one at a time, pull the leaver one click then back and do it again. not much use as a press without a hole in the base. I bought it as a job lot for £65.00, a very small book press that I sold for £20.00 and a golf ball press that should fetch a good price so it should not owe me anything.

Hmm -could be converted into a scrumpy press, perhaps

Seems Bazyle has equally practical thoughts…

I learn something new every day! I don't play golf and this may be a silly question but why would you need to flatten golf ball?
