For anyone who might want to "print" from extruded materials other than PLA or ABS filament; here is an interesting discussion.

I am very impressed by the UP! printers.

I tried to convice the Financial Comptroller of the utility of such a device, but she woudln't even come and look at their website.

I even pointed out that it could be used to make iphone cases – still no joy.

One last hope – I'll show my daughter the 3D rabbit…

Yes, I'm still working on it.

seems the price is pretty fixed wherever you buy from.

On Radio 4 this morning heard an article about an artists studio/ workshop, they are using what sounds very like some sophisticated rep-rap machines. One soon to be finished can do a 5 metre cube in concrete. Apologies if I've got it wrong but was working at the time.

                Gordon,

No they probably have this right. I supplied a load of CNC bits to Loughborough University a few years ago so they could build a large concrete crapping machine [ TM ]

One thing they wanted to do with it was build a large termite mound ? in concrete so they could study how the ventilation system works as apparently these keep a constant temperature no matter what the outside temperatures are.

There are also videos on Youtube showing building being printed.
