I was pawing through a few boxes of my late father's stuff today and found a few 5/16" square HSS tool blanks marked: "5/16 MOMAX Cleveland G." Before I go to the trouble of grinding any I thought I would solicit comments about the quality. I can find Cleveland blanks on the net but nothing on the "G" grade.
Thanks. I ground one. Tough to grind is right…. very tough but they hone to a super edge. Excellent results with test cuts on a piece of 316 SS rod @ about 450 RPM; very slow feed and .0015 cut. I am happy. My dad offered me these blanks a few years ago but I passed on the offer as I was using only indexable tools at the time.
